A Fall Day at Snoqualmie Pass
So this past weekend, we were on the search for some leftover snow from last week's rain. We were hoping to find some off a forest service road above Snoqualmie summit. Unfortunately, whatever snow there was last week was long gone. But the day was a beautiful day and the fall colors were amazing! We took a few pics and for those of you who don't know...that bump on my stomach is actually our first kid, a boy, coming along for the trip. Enjoy the pics!

Here Bailey and I pose for the camera before heading back down the trail to the car. Sorry, no pics of Tim, he had sole control of the camera!

Buddy Walk - Bellingham, WA
On Saturday October 4, 2008, the ARC of Whatcom County had their annual Buddy Walk to raise money and awareness of Down Syndrome in the community. My family particpated in the walk to support my nephew, Kaden, who has down syndrome and others in the Bellingham area who have DS. What an experience! This was our second year of participating, but Heather (my sister), Ryan (her husband), and their daughter, Lauren, and, of course, Kaden have been participating in this event for three years. There were at least a couple of hundred people at the event. Below are a few photos from that great day. AND the rain/windstorm held off until we were safe at Heather's house watching football. Praise the Lord!
Lauren, Heather, Kaden, and Ryan walking to the finish line. This year Kaden was walking in the walk!
Kaden hitching a ride on Ryan's shoulders during the walk. Notice how Kaden is holding Ryan's ears as he is riding. Pretty cute.

Old Pictures Found - Reminder of What's to Come!
I found these pics of a snowshoeing adventure that Tim and I took last December up at Snoqualmie pass. This was just after the first snow and just before a huge snow storm rolled in. In the last pic you can see the beginnings of the snow from the storm. We were attempting to make it up to Silver Peak via the Pacific Crest Trail. Needless to say the snow added a lot of time to our adventure and we never made it all the way. Once we got back to the logging road we realized how fast the storm was coming in. We still had a mile or so to go to get back to our rig, so Tim put on his tele skis and I sat on them just in front of his feet. We skied down the road with Bailey attacking us the whole way down. We made it back just in time to get stuck in an ice storm on I-90 outside of North Bend. A FedEx truck had slide and was blocking almost all the lanes on I-90. As we were waiting the road was getting so slick that almost no one could move. After a lot of manuevering and praying we were able to get beyond the pile-up and move down the road. A memorable adventure and with the onset of fall...a reminder of what's to come! Bring on the snow!

Here's Bailey attacking the bushes off the trail. I love the snow that is stuck to her nose.
Tim and Bailey taking some time to enjoy the sites. I believe that Bailey was pondering jumping off the side of the trail to follow a snowball we threw.
This was when the snow really started to come down. We hadn't made it back to the logging road yet. Tim was ready to slap on those skiis and carve some turns!

Bailey and I on the PCT just off the logging road. I just couldn't get my mind around how beautiful the snow was. We were the first tracks on the trail! Amazing!
